EOD
EOD is a powerful and mysterious otherworldly entity located in the Far Realm. In some chthonogy, EOD is considered the Far Realm; as in, EOD and the Far Realm are one in the same.
His[1] ultimate purpose is unknown; his main goal appears to be the constant and unending attempt to consume worlds within the Material Plane. EOD is considered a Level 1 "Worldending Entity" by the Wardens, and as such he is heavily monitored by them, with numerous failsafes in place both in the Far Realm and in the Material Plane to ensure the latter's protection. Regardless, EOD is still able to infiltrate worlds of the Material Plane, slowly but inevitably taking over the world until it becomes uninhabitable.
Appearance & Personality
EOD has no avatar or humanoid appearance. Instead, he is viewed in two forms: as an endless geophysical plane of eyes, damp, pulsating purple skin, and writhing purple tentacles, or, alternatively, as pockets of similar eyes and skin protruding from or affixed to the world or objects. The former view is often seen in dreams or visions, while the latter is primarily seen in the Far Realm or on EOD-corrupted worlds. The eyes are varied in size and shape, with some as small as a marble and others larger than a mountain, and have pupils of varying kinds (human, goat, cuttlefish, etc).
Due to his sheer number of eyes, EOD is often attributed as the progenitor of beholders. However, there is almost no evidence proving this to be the case.
In many ways, EOD is the epitome of an inscrutable otherworldly being--his motives are unknown aside from a presumed insatiable hunger for the worlds of the Material Plane. His "demeanor" is aloof, connecting with beings only when he needs them for a worldly infiltration. (See Parts of EOD, below.) Wardens have described walking past mountain-sized "bouquets of eyes" in the Far Realm with no noticeable consequences.
Powers & Abilities
In the Far Realm, EOD's abilities are limitless. He can manipulate the world and the beings within it to an absolute degree, much like the gods on the Outer Planes. He can manipulate physics, geography, and elements in such a way that it becomes incomprehensible to a person from the Material Plane, and even to celestial beings. In fact, spending too much time in the Far Realm can induce a form of madness, known simply as The Madness or EOD's Will, in which the incomprehensibility of the realm itself degrades a being's mental capacity so much that they begin to take on features of the realm, eventually dis-incorporating as a normal being entirely and becoming "one with the realm."
Inversely, EOD has virtually no power within the Material Plane unless he is connected to his Parts. In some instances, he is completely unable to infiltrate a world at all, due to numerous reasons, such as the magical affinity of the world, its resilience against planar rifts, the general resolve of the populace there, and the connection of the world to its patron deity or deities. Worlds which are lacking in one or more of those things tend to be accessible by EOD, in which case he is limited to very narrow telepathy with certain beings which he chooses for reasons unknown.
Similarly, once EOD has consumed a world, he cannot move to another one through the Material Plane. It seems that he lacks the ability to travel on his own in the Material Plane. Thus, occasionally travelers may stumble upon an EOD-consumed world, which resembles a planet-sized ball of writhing flesh, eyes, and tentacles.
The Parts of EOD
EOD's main and, presumably, only way of infiltrating worlds in the Material Plane is to imbue certain beings within that world with a portion of his power, creating powerful warlocks who serve him. Seven beings are required for the takeover of a world.
The first being EOD makes a pact with becomes The Eye, losing their former identity, though retaining most of their memories and personality. The Eye's purpose is to literally and figuratively be the eyes of EOD, allowing him to see the world more clearly and find the remaining parts.
Normally, the second being to be taken in is The Hand. The Hand is the vessel of EOD's strength. Their purpose is to slay great beasts and monsters for EOD, who harnesses his power, likely to help anchor or attune him to the world, or to help EOD grow in strength in the Material Plane. The Eye often finds The Hand themselves, but occasionally EOD is able to take in The Hand on his own. This usually occurs if The Eye finds The Foot first.
The Foot is the general of the army which is amassed to serve EOD. The Foot uses their strength and intimidation to subjugate the dark or evil entities of the world, turning them into allies of EOD and helping defend EOD's plans against the more light or good-natured beings.
At this point, if these three beings are in existence in a world, there is a roughly 80% chance that world will be consumed.
Next, The Mouth is found. The Mouth serves as the diplomat and is EOD's persuasive tongue, who delivers the proclamation of EOD's impending conquering with a silver-tongue, charming anyone who can hear him into succumbing. From here on, the world is 95% likely to be consumed. By now, EOD's plans have become known to most people in the world, and other nations may send armies to defeat the Parts of EOD, but are almost always squashed by The Foot's massive armies.
Following The Mouth's proclamation, a male and female being are chosen; they become The Sexes. Their job is to mate to create The Heart. This step can differ wildly depending on a being's biology on a world, but the result is the same--the creation of The Heart.
Lastly, The Heart is born. The Heart is a baby, often a grotesque aberration, from whom EOD will emerge to consume the world. Tentacles sprout from the baby as it is torn asunder, and EOD emerges, killing everyone and razing everything in his path.
