Peggy: …okay Marvin hurry up before I forget everything.

Marvin: I’m ready.

Peggy: Alright, everyone, settle down. Let’s debrief.

Landallyn: Well. That was unexpected.

Urgak: Disappointing.

Aloysius: How so?

Urgak: It was half-dead! Like fighting a limp fish.

Gregor: Bravan will be unhappy she didn’t get to fight a mindflayer.

Peggy: Do we believe its story?

Landallyn: I do. It felt warmer down there, even a few feet down.

Aloysius: Agreed. It seemed … scared, almost.

Landallyn: I felt bad killing it.

Urgak: Until it took over my body, right?

Landallyn: Yes. Until then.

Peggy: Well, looks like we’ve got a new job to add to the board.

Aloysius: How about “Firenewt Removal”?

Gregor: Perfect.

Peggy: Marvin, get that down.

Marvin: I am gramma!

Aloysius: I think we should request the same group as before for this one.

Urgak: After we led them into an ambush? They’ll never learn to trust us.

Landallyn: 90% of jobs result in an ambush at some point.

Gregor: Besides, we didn’t know it would be an ambush.

Peggy: Alright Al, you can speak with them. Don’t put it on the board unless they refuse. Also, let’s prepare to train them up a bit. And give them the gems. We’ll keep the gold. I feel generous.

Aloysius: What about the … circlet?

Peggy: Can it be used for the Ivory Tower?

Aloysius: I tried to see if it had any telekinetic ability or divination magic, but it appears not to. It deals with psionics, which I know very little about.

Peggy: Give it to them then.

Aloysius: Are you sure?

Peggy: It’s a magic item, isn’t it?

Aloysius: Yes, but it seems more powerful than I am able to discern…

Peggy: Well, let them figure it out. Maybe it’ll blow up their brain, maybe not.

(Urgak laughs.)

Peggy: Now, let’s talk about plugging up those Underdark holes…

Aloysius also presents the team with a new mission: Firenewt Removal

“The mindflayer we took care of in the hole at Dan’s farm had spoken to us telepathically, explaining that it had been ambushed by a group of firenewts, Underdark creatures that seek out warm locales underground to thrive. The firenewts injured heavily it before it managed to escape, taking refuge in the hole on Dan’s farmland, and using its telepathic powers to draw in individuals in an attempt to eat their brains and regain its health. We destroyed the mindflayer, but now we are concerned about the newts and would like you to descend into the firenewt lair and get rid of them. For this, we will pay you 50gp, each, and will not take a cut. However, we will take 30% of any gold you acquire in the lair.

“If you do not want to take this challenge, we will post it to the job board. Interested?”
