Rifts are essentially portals without portkeys. Rather than being carefully constructed, rifts are often the result of magic gone awry, or something tearing at the fundamental laws of the Material Plane. Typical rifts do little more than introduce creatures, weather, and other things from one plane to another, but larger rifts can have dangerous effects on the physics and chronology of both planes. Most smaller rifts can be sealed by applying strong magical energy to the rift, such as casting any spell at the rift itself. Larger ones require something … more. == Old Garrod Rift == Medium rift. Opened to Plane of Fire. Is where Alrenn’s phylactery was thrown. Sealed by ghosts. == Neverender Rift == Small rift. Opened to Plane of Water. Appeared in a cave at first but drifted into open sea. Sealed by an abeloth. == “The One in the Sky” == Enormous rift. Referenced by Manod as the rift from which Dovar arrived. Sealed with a “magical bomb” by the Lost Ones and their spelljammer. This is the rift that allowed the titans to return to Avo. == Sildewell Rift == Large rift. Opened to Feywild. Forcibly sealed by EOD. == Shuyan Rift == Huge rift. Opened to the Shadowfell. Sealed by a magical bomb carried by Rogue Wave. == Brannenburg Rift == Moderate sized rift, appeared south of Brannenburg in Anor, Valwyr. Opened to the Astral Sea. Likely one of the first rifts. Sealed by the Valwyran Circle. [[Category:Things]] [[Category:Portals]]
