Part I | Back to Rogue Wave Ms. Redfang, Prior to our entrance of the aforementioned cave, we were joined by another Guild member. He introduced himself as Irzog. Considering that Irzog is an Orc, I was surprised that he was better dressed than many humans I have encountered. I am suspicious of others by nature but the Orc proved useful. I scouted ahead into the cave to discover a large room with roughly ten undead shambling about. Rhonaat and Irzog engaged in close combat while the construct and I performed ranged attacks. It did not take long to dispatch the zombies although they dealt a few injuries to my companions. When the zombies were finished I again scouted ahead. The remaining room was smaller than the first and had three occupants. One was the mushroom child that we sought. He was being guarded by a large two-headed dog. The third creature I determined to be a ghoul based on the way he was gnawing on rotten flesh. No one noticed me so I slipped back into the larger chamber to inform Rhonaat and Irzog of what I had seen. I had tangled with a different two-headed dog prior to my acceptance into the Guild. I barely managed to survive and was not keen to repeat the experience. We devised a plan to separate the creatures and hopefully deal with one at a time. We tied a piece of zombie meat to a rope and used it to lure the ghoul away from the guard animal. Our surprise attack of the ghoul caused enough commotion to attract the beast but between my bow, Rhonaat’s fists, and Irzog’s ax, the skirmish was not as difficult as I anticipated. Oh, and the construct provided aid in combat as well as healing. We were victorious and the mushroom folk were reunited. Exploration of the cave turned up a few useful items, coins (of which we persuaded Irzog into giving you your percentage), and a strange object that I believe you will be very interested in. The mushroom family expressed their gratitude by sifting spores onto us that they stated would aid us in future endeavors. We parted ways and returned to the Outpost to ensure that our efforts had indeed put an end to the strange dreams. In the morning Irzog was nowhere to be found. He apparently set off on his own again so I can no longer account for his whereabouts. Rhonaat and I began our return journey. It did not take us long to realize that the mushroom spores gifted to us had enhanced our perceptions. For what duration, I have no clue. Colors became more vibrant, sounds clearer, and smells greatly enhanced. We spotted a tree in the distance which is odd because there was not one in that place before. The closer we got to the tree, the more intense sensory input became. I felt very odd and slightly discomfited by the experience. Since circumstances were highly unusual, Rhonaat and I decided to investigate. [Note: this is the last correspondence. Apparently, after this Jayadwen got tired of sending letters.]
