What follows is a transcript of a meeting between the Redfang Guildmasters regarding the Dragonslayers' performance in Lilingbroke. (Back then they were called the Orcslayers.) == PORTION OF TRANSCRIPT OF CORE MTG, 1 MIDSPRING, 807 == transcribed by Geordie Redfang In attendance: Peggy Redfang, Landallyn Tinavoi, Aloysius Pridd IV, Gregor Hammerfall, Urgak Vrokk Peggy: The little ones in Lilingbroke have returned, and right as reports of war follow. Landallyn: It was more of a skirmish — Urgak: I told you those orcs were not to be trusted — Gregor: The Ot’horok are young, they require time — Peggy: Hold your tongues for a moment. Al? Aloysius: Yes, well, this group has performed exceptionally well despite the extenuating circumstances, which were largely out of their control. Khemn Ot’horok was planning to sabotage the mediation from the onset — Landallyn: Which Ian should have known about— Aloysius: Yes, Ian van Montelle was hired for the purpose of protecting the diplomats from the orcs. They assumed all of them would attempt some sort of sabotage or disruption. However, Khemn left barely into the first day of discussions, so it was presumed that — Landallyn: Wrongly. Urgak: (laughs) I forget how much you hate bards, Landy. Aloysius: Ahem. It was presumed that he was not interested in participating. On that note, the other Ot’horok seemed, initially at least, to be amenable. Urgak: An act. Gregor: Quite an intelligent act for a tribe of stupid orcs. Landallyn: Fortunately, out of that chaos, a new treaty was formed with the Urthagur, with Yarkhag planning to fold all of the Ot’horok under his clan. Urgak: Great, more orcs in bow-ties… Peggy: What about our kids? Aloysius: The group performed well. Tanya was worried about their abilities at first, but in the end, they were the ones that took down Khemn on their own, with a concentrated blast inside town hall. A few missteps here and there, but nothing you wouldn’t already see in green cadets. Again, considering the circumstances, I believe they are on the right track. Peggy: One of them knocked out my sister, Helga. (A brief pause. Then Peggy laughs until she can’t breathe.) Urgak: Do you think they would have lived if we hadn’t crash-course trained them on the way to Sildewell? Aloysius: Oh no, no, they would be dead, most certainly. Peggy: Right place, right time, I suppose. Landallyn: I’d much prefer a “house call” training session than to spend our coffers on numerous resurrection components. Aloysius: Speaking of which, I have a potential solution for that, which we can speak about after the meeting. In any event, I recommend this group to lower Haven status. Landallyn: Second. Urgak: I still think they’re a little soft … but we need the numbers. Third. Peggy: It is settled. We’ll hold the ceremony by week’s end. Also, Urgak, don’t forget to tell them their squadname. Urgak: Yes ma’am, though I hope half-orc isn’t offended by it. Peggy: Are you offended by it? Urgak: I’m not offended by anything, ma’am, except weaklings. Peggy: She’ll be fine. Alright, moving on… END TRANSCRIPTION SECTION == NICKNAME == After the Havenshield initiation, Urgak gives you your squadname. “You’re in our log as the Orcslayers. You have two days to object to that name but you must also provide a new one, if you object.” He shrugs. “It’s really mostly for recordkeeping purposes anyway. The rule is, the majority of people in your adventuring party determine your squadname. So if you got three Orcslayers and one Nastyboy, your squad is Orcslayers. Understood?”
